AP 2D Studio Art
This portfolio, consisting of a sustained investigation and a collection of selected works, explored how love evolves throughout a person's life. Through my investigation, I explored concepts such as familial love as well as Agape, or universal love. I expressed these findings through juxtaposing common motifs and phrases associated with love with different ideas.
Sustained Investigation
"I first examined love in early life as a parent on their child (1) and a child on the world (2). Vibrant colors evident in 3 & 4 show pure, universal love in simple gestures like giving flowers and early passions like performing. I explore adolescent love in 5 & 6 where it is most vulnerable. This progresses to piece 7, where love is reduced to material goods and can feel like an obligation rather than a pleasure. The colors of 8 & 9 reflect a lack of love in ones life. However, with support systems like in 10, you can make amends and reflect on your past growth together (11) until the end."
